Doubao adds 'Travel with Doubao' tab in local-services push

ByteDance's Doubao chatbot added a "Travel with Doubao" tab directly above its home-screen input box just before the National Day holiday, placing travel and local services alongside core features like chat and writing assistance. The tab aggregates dining, navigation, transport and hotel services. Tapping a prepared prompt or category card launches a relevant flow, usually after location permission is granted. Doubao says the feature remains an aggregation layer with guided prompts rather than a fully autonomous planner, and its preset suggestions are generic, not yet drawing deeply on individual user history. The move signals ByteDance is testing monetization of local-life services through its AI assistant.
