Robot Data Collectors in China Earn About 120 Yuan a Day Demonstrating Household Tasks

TMTPost's DingjiaoOne interviewed five robot data collectors in China who train embodied-AI robots by repeatedly demonstrating everyday household tasks such as folding clothes, making beds, washing dishes, and labeling packages. Pay is low and varies by shift and task: full-time collectors earn 120 yuan for a day shift and 135 yuan for a night shift, with the earlier starting rate of 100 yuan per day paid in full only if both total and effective working hours meet requirements. Part-timers are paid hourly, around 20 yuan per hour for simple tasks that do not require holding a gripper. The work shows how low-cost human labor underpins data collection for China's embodied intelligence industry.
